TL;DR — FAQPage schema is schema.org structured data that marks up a page's question-and-answer content so machines can extract each question and its accepted answer verbatim. Shipped as JSON-LD, it declares an explicit list of Question entities, each with an acceptedAnswer in plain text. Google restricted FAQ rich results in the SERP in 2023, but the markup's AI-era value is intact: answer engines and retrieval systems consume FAQPage data as pre-chunked, quotable Q&A — exactly the shape an LLM wants when assembling an answer.
Definition & scope
Good FAQPage implementation mirrors visible content: every marked-up question and answer must appear on the page, answers should be self-contained (quotable without surrounding context), and the plain-text acceptedAnswer field should not carry HTML.
FAQ content also maps naturally onto how people prompt AI engines — full-sentence questions. Pages whose FAQs answer the questions buyers actually ask are disproportionately represented in AI citations for those questions.
