Migration and Custom Development: Walker’s Shortbread, one of the world’s premier producers of shortbread, cookies, and oatcakes, had been operating websites for both the US and UK on WordPress. They needed a customized strategic solution that would be easier to manage and coordinated with our specialists for a migration to a newly designed and developed BigCommerce Enterprise website.
Because of the scope and unique nature of the migration, our developers had to execute several weeks of detailed field mapping to account for all of data stored locally as well as being pulled dynamically into their WordPress website, which consisted of diverse media stored across several locations. The migration required multi-platform source for all the data, and we performed several test migrations before greenlighting the official migration to ensure that data was pulled, and populated, correctly in the new store. Additionally, we performed separate migrations for their blogs and recipes. On the new store, the blog is managed by BigCommerce’s native blog functionality, and the recipes through a custom Shogun page.
Our developers also executed several advanced customizations for this project, allowing a single store to display unique pricing and views for both B2C and B2B customers based on login information using BigCommerce’s native Customer Group functionality. We also customized the store to allow its inventory management system to track a single SKU for both single products and cases, improving both the customer experience as well as the inventory tracking of the store.
