Platform Migration: Relight Depot, which sells a wide range of indoor and outdoor lighting for residential, commercial, and industrial applications, was built on an open-source platform. With countless customer accounts and product and category entries to manage, they were interested in migrating to the BigCommerce Enterprise platform, which is highly scalable and practical to manage.
The scope of the migration was comprehensive, accounting for more than 300 categories, 10,000 products, more than 6,000 customer accounts, and 7,000 orders on top of more than 70 blogs. In addition to a diverse variety of data associated with category, product, customer, and order account and information, our eCommerce platform migration experts had to preserve product attributes and SEO data, such as keyword attribution and metadata, for each entry, with perfect fidelity.
1Digital® Agency set up a temporary Linux server to perform the migration and wrote two custom scripts; one to retrieve data from the client’s existing website before, and another to communicate with the new BigCommerce store’s API in order to ensure that the data transferred and populated properly. Along the way, our technical team implemented 301 redirects in order to prevent any loss of traffic or SEO work, along with a period of Google Search Console support.
