You're on the role page
This page is for merchants who want to hire a BigCommerce design team — credentials, named roles, process, and portfolio. Looking for theme architecture decisions instead (Stencil vs Cornerstone vs Catalyst, theme deliverables, custom-vs-curated)? See our BigCommerce Templates playbook →
1Digital® Agency is a BigCommerce Elite Partner and BigDev Certified team, founded in 2012. Our designers spend every working day inside BigCommerce — Stencil + Cornerstone, Catalyst headless on Next.js + Makeswift, Page Builder, Widget Builder, Multi-Storefront, and B2B Edition. That platform fluency means design decisions account for merchandising workflow, theme architecture, and platform constraints from the first Figma frame — not in a frustrated post-launch retro.
Our designers work across whatever theme architecture your project needs — Stencil, Catalyst, or Page Builder. For the architecture decision itself (which path fits your catalog, brand, and roadmap), see the theme-architecture playbook. This page is about the team and process that delivers the design layer on top.
Meet the BigCommerce Design Team
Every BigCommerce design engagement at 1Digital® is staffed with named specialists. You know who owns the visuals, who owns the system, who owns conversion, and who owns brand — and they stay on your project from kickoff through QA.
Owns the storefront experience end-to-end — wireframes, Figma comps, PDP/PLP layouts, brand system application, and merchandising-aware Page Builder zones. Pairs directly with your stakeholders.
Builds the token system (color, type, spacing, elevation), component library, and pattern kit in Figma — then maps it cleanly to Stencil partials, Catalyst React components, and Widget Builder primitives.
Translates GA4, BODL, heatmap, and session-recording data into layout, copy, and CTA decisions. Runs the A/B test cadence and protects KPIs through every visual change.
Owns brand integrity across the storefront — typography hierarchy, photography direction, iconography, motion, and seasonal campaign systems. Keeps the storefront on-brand at scale.
Our BigCommerce Design Process
A repeatable five-step process honed across 400+ BigCommerce engagements. Every step has a written deliverable, a named owner, and a stakeholder checkpoint — no surprises at launch.
We start with your brand book, current storefront analytics, competitor landscape, and merch team workflow. Output: a written brief covering KPIs, audience, catalog shape, and the design problems worth solving.
User interviews, session-recording review, GA4 funnel analysis, and faceted-nav diagnostics drive the information architecture — sitemap, PDP/PLP density, mega-menu structure, and B2B Edition buyer flows.
Tokens, components, and screen comps land in a versioned Figma library. Every screen ships with annotated states, responsive breakpoints, and a documented merchandising-zone map so Page Builder isn't an afterthought.
Before handoff, we pressure-test hero, PDP, PLP, and cart layouts with heuristic review and — where the data exists — A/B testing. Conversion-rate hypotheses are logged with the screens, not bolted on later.
Designers sit with the build team through Stencil or Catalyst implementation — token parity, accessibility passes (WCAG 2.2 AA), Core Web Vitals review, and a launch checklist before any traffic moves.
Standout visuals, clear UX, Core Web Vitals-tuned performance, and conversion-focused layouts — delivered by named designers who have lived inside BigCommerce for 14 years.

Our designers ship for B2C and B2B across verticals — including regulated categories (CBD, firearms, alcohol) where compliance UX has to coexist with conversion. Each engagement is staffed with designers who've worked the vertical before, so the visual language, faceted-nav logic, and B2B Edition Price List / Customer Group treatment land right the first time.

A BigCommerce designer at 1Digital® owns the storefront experience — brand application, UX flows, Figma design systems, PDP / PLP layouts, Page Builder zone planning, and CRO-led iteration. They sit between your brand stakeholders and our BigCommerce engineering team, translating business goals into screens that merchandisers can run and developers can ship cleanly on Stencil or Catalyst.
A BigCommerce developer ships Stencil / Catalyst code, custom apps, and integrations. A templates engineer focuses on the theme architecture choice (Stencil vs Cornerstone vs Catalyst — see our BigCommerce Templates playbook). A designer owns the visual and UX layer that lives on top — brand system, layout, interaction, conversion patterns, and accessibility — and works inside whichever theme architecture your project needs.
Both work. We staff fixed-scope engagements (a PDP redesign, a Page Builder landing-page kit, a seasonal refresh) with one or two named designers, and we staff full programs (replatform, Multi-Storefront brand rollout, Catalyst rebuild) with a multi-role pod — senior designer, UX, design system architect, and CRO lead. Same team, scoped to the brief.
Yes. Our 50+ specialist team is US-based — aligned timezones, native English collaboration, and on-time delivery across Pacific, Mountain, Central, and Eastern stakeholders. We don't subcontract design work offshore.
Figma is the core — design tokens, versioned component libraries, auto-layout, and dev-mode handoff. We layer in Maze and UserTesting for usability research, Hotjar / FullStory for session-recording review, GA4 + BODL for behavior analytics, and Optimizely / VWO for A/B testing. For Catalyst projects, our designers work directly inside Makeswift visual editing alongside developers.
Fixed-scope visual work (landing pages, PDP redesign, brand refresh on an existing theme) typically lands in 3–6 weeks. A full Figma design system plus Stencil theme design runs 8–14 weeks depending on catalog depth. Catalyst headless design programs run 12–20 weeks. Retainer engagements (sprint-based CRO iteration, seasonal refreshes) run continuously after the first launch.
