BigCommerce issued the following update for online marketers regarding sales tax on Tuesday, Aug. 7.
Due to regulatory compliance requirements and operations in various states, BigCommerce is required to charge sales tax on subscriptions and additional services or products purchased from BigCommerce for merchants living in the states of Texas, New York and South Carolina. The change goes into effect on Thursday, Sept. 6.
With this impending change coming soon, BigCommerce is advising that merchants consult with tax experts regarding any implications this will have on their business or any future tax filings. This is recommended to be done between Wednesday, Aug. 8 and the effective date of the change on Sept. 6.
BigCommerce is available to take any questions from merchants or partners through email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
